On top of all of this, there’s also a Russia Mystery Crate available for 40 City Cash that contains one of four items: the Russian Hall, Simcovich Apartments, Alexandrov Apartments or the Balalaika Shop. Unfortunately, that wraps up the theme at this point, with all of these items being available ranging from 11 to 12 more days in the store. With only one coin-related item available, I personally really hope that more items are added in the future, or I doubt I’ll be the only one that skips this theme altogether. Am I right?

The CityVille French Riviera Casino

Share

Nearly a year after the game’s release, it’s finally time to unlock the first CityVille Wonder: The Eiffel Tower. We’ve guided you through building both the Sailboat Hotel and the Tonga Tower, and now Zynga has released the French Riviera Casino to the game. It’s the third and final building required to access CityVille’s first Wonder, and follows about the same pattern as its predecessors. But that doesn’t make it any simpler of a task, so here’s everything you need to know:
frenchcasino8 The CityVille French Riviera Casino
Players must be at least Level 30 to access the French Riviera Casino. Once you reach that point, you’ll come across a new Goal from Edgar. It simply asks that you place the foundation for the building, and rewards you 2 XP for doing so. Keep in mind that you don’t have to complete the Sailboat Hotel and Tonga Tower to access this Goal.
However, you will have to finish all three to access the Eiffel Tower. Once you place the new building, it will appear complete with massive tarps, scaffolding and a giant crane. Click on it again to reveal the next giant steps in constructing this massive building in a window featuring three tasks.
frenchcasino4 The CityVille French Riviera Casino
Unlock the French Riviera Casino
Gather parts to Unlock
Upgrade one French Business to Level 2
Master one French Crop to Level 2
Like most buildings in CityVille, you must ask your friends for a list of items, though this time that list is more like a litany. You must ask friends for 12 of each of these items: Roulette Wheel, Dice, Slot Machine, Deck of Cards and Poker Chip. Once you receive one of each, you can place them on your Wish List to possibly make this part pass by more quickly.

Of the French Businesses listed in the Goal, we recommend upgrading the French Restaurant, as it costs the least at 4,500 Coins and holds just 110 Goods, meaning it will be open for collection more often and thus more upgrade points. Choosing the best French crop to upgrade is easy: Go with what’s cheapest. That would be the Sun Flowers, which cost just 51 Coins and take 15 hours to harvest.
frenchcasino9 The CityVille French Riviera Casino
Once you completed all three daunting tasks, click “Finish Building” to unveil the French Riviera Casino. Of course, the building is functional, but operates much like a standard Hotel. Click on the building to supply it with a whopping 500 Goods. Click it again, and a menu similar to the Hotels will appear. While your city’s residents will populate the French Riviera Casino, you can invite friends to boost the building’s payout up to three times the normal value.
You can even invite friends as VIP guests after the Casino is ready to be collected. Just click on the hovering VIP icon to select five VIP friends. This is the final building to unlock the Eiffel Tower, so go on and build the first Wonder ever to hit CityVille.

So, you’ve finally completed all three CityVille Landmarks required to unlock the Eiffel Tower: The Sailboat Hotel, the Tonga Tower and the French Riviera Casino. Now that the game’s first Wonder is yours, just what do you do with it? More importantly, how does it work? Luckily for you, we have the answers. Here’s everything you need to know about the Eiffel Tower:
What’s This Thing Do?
Once you unlock the Eiffel Tower, building it is as simple as placing it, and then clicking on its foundation to finish it. What the building does essentially is power-up the payouts of all Restaurants, Hotels and other Businesses in your city. More specifically, Wonders triple the payout of Hotels, double the payout of Restaurants and boost other Businesses by 25 percent. However, this effect only lasts for a limited time. In that respect, Wonders are similar to Attractions in the game.

Giving the Shine Treatment
There’s no range on the Eiffel Tower–it’s bonuses are city-wide. So, place the building wherever you please. Then, click on the building to get it started. Each time you use the Eiffel Tower, it costs you 3 Energy, and the effect lasts for three minutes. You can extend this time with City Cash, which at least grants you with bonus Energy. During that three minutes, any relevant buildings surrounding the Wonder will sparkle, and you must collect from those buildings while the bonuses are in effect.

eiffel9jpg Using the CityVille Eiffel Tower
Pushing the Restart Button
After the three minutes are up, your Eiffel Tower will shut down, so to speak. An icon with a key inside will hover above the building. Click it to open a new window in which displays two options. If you want to use the Wonder again immediately, you can ask your friends for six Keys to start it up again, but if you’re willing to wait, the Eiffel Tower recharges in 72 hours. In essence, the Eiffel Tower is one massive Attraction, so push the power button and reap the rewards.

Capital One Bank Opens First CityVille Branch

Brand is First to Simultaneously Integrate Across Three Zynga Platforms with Presence on the Farm, the Trail and in the City
announcecapitalOne-1
McLean, Va. (September 20, 2011) – Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE: COF) and Zynga today launched a major three-game promotion, marking the first time a brand has simultaneously engaged across multiple Zynga studios. Starting today, CityVille players will be able to place the very first branded Capital One Bank in bus_capital_onetheir city. FarmVille and The Pioneer Trailplayers will be able to interact with the goat from Capital One’s commercials, which is being introduced in both games as one of many in-game incentives. Each in-game promotion delivers a unique Capital One experience and directs players to Capital One’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/capitalone) to learn more about exclusive items.
“The explosion of social gaming offers a great way to engage consumers with our Brand,” said Jack Forestell, Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy at Capital One. “Re-teaming with Zynga allows us to build on our previous success with FarmVille and branch out to CityVille and The Pioneer Trail. It is a natural next step and offers a unique way to feature the Capital One Goat character that is growing in popularity and generating support in social channels.”
Through the Capital One promotion, players now have the opportunity to place the first branded bank inCityVille. Placing a Capital One bank in the game yields a bonus decorative item, energy, experience points, and big payouts for CityVille players.deco_capitaloneviking
At the same time, FarmVille players who visit and participate in Capital One’s farm will receive a limited edition – and breedable – Capital One Goat, which is of high value given Farmville’s recent introduction of “animal mastery” and forthcoming “animal breeding pens.” Players can also get free “animal grow” courtesy of Capital One to make their animals instantly ready for harvest.
Meanwhile on The Pioneer Trail, players will participate in a Capital One branded quest that assists the Capital One Goat in finding his lost band mates. Players can earn branded quest rewards, including a limited edition Capital One goat which will be a permanent in-game item.
“We look for iconic brands that enhance the in-game experience and deliver value to our players, and Capital One a brand that many of our players know, recognize, and use every day,” said Jeff Karp, Chief Marketing and revenue Officer at Zynga. “This marks the first time a company is offering in-game brand engagements across multiple Zynga studios at the same time, and adding Capital One retail banks toCityVille is a great fit.”

I hope you had your fill of the Farm theme in CityVille, as another theme has swooped in to steal the spotlight. To be specific, this new theme has to do with Sports, and there are tons of items available (some for coins, which is a plus) to allow your citizens to spend time in the great outdoors, living a fit and healthy lifestyle. As usual, we’re here to give a complete look at what these items are, and (more importantly) how much they cost, so that you can be better prepared the next time you take on your role as Mayor.

If you purchase one, you’ll be guaranteed one of four items: the Half-Pipe House, Red Card Residence, Fencing School or Big Play Brewery. This Mystery Crate will only be available for five days, so you’ll need to decide fairly quickly if you want to risk receiving duplicates by purchasing multiple boxes, or if you’ll purchase the four items individually.
As you can see, all of these items will be disappearing from the game rather quickly, so if you have any desire for them whatsoever, your best bet would be to purchase them now (even if it’s just a few coin decorations), rather than waiting. Why? Well, there are few things worse than forgetting… and then regretting.

CityVille Back to School Goals

Share

What better way to celebrate the launch of another school year in the real world than to… play CityVille on Facebook? Ok, so maybe I’m grasping at straws with that one, but Zynga has done it too! Just look at these new goals! There are four new goals to complete in all, in a Back to School series that will see you ultimately rewarded with a Football Field, among other prizes. Without further ado (as we all know there’s homework to be done), here’s a guide to finishing these four goals off.
Too Cool For School / Brain Food
Ask for 5 Pocket Protectors
Visit 10 Neighbors
Harvest 20 Wheat
The Pocket Protectors are earned through a general news post, rather than individual requests to friends. While you’re waiting for those to arrive, you can plant your wheat, which takes a whopping 2.1 days to grow. For finishing this first goal, you’ll receive just 35 XP.
cityville back to school CityVille Back to School Goals
Show & Tell
Ask for 8 Text Books
Collect from 20 Businesses
Collect from Burger Joint 4 Times
For this goal, it looks as though you can collect from the same Burger Joint four times in a row, or collect from four individual Burger Joints, so keep that in mind if you happen to have more than one in your town. For finishing this second goal, you’ll receive 960 coins.

Study Hall of Fame
Upgrade a Library
Collect from any Library 2 Times
Have a Crossing Guard in your City
Back at the end of July, Zynga released the ability to upgrade your Library, and you can find our complete guide to doing so right here. For finishing this goal, you’ll earn 480 Goods.
Playing Hooky
Have 2 Pairs of High Heels from the Designer Collection
Collect from Flower Kiosk 10 Times
Collect from Diner 8 Times
The High Heels are available from the Shoe Store, Handbag Store, Sunglasses Store or Watch Shop, so just keep supplying and collecting from those businesses and you should get lucky (if you’re impatient, you can also ask your friends to send you some extras from their own collections). For finishing this final goal, you’ll receive the Football Field, which is a 6×4 decorative item that gives you a 30% bonus to surrounding businesses and residences. It is currently only available through this goal series, so make sure to keep track of them if you are interested in adding one to your town.

CityVille invaded by Empires & Allies’ Captain Krunsch, but why?

Share

And here we thought we were done with cross promotions between Zynga games. It looks like Captain Krunsch, one of the villains within Zynga’s Empires & Allies, has invaded the beaches in CityVille. The little guy has appeared on a stretch of rocks to players that have expanded out to the Beach in the game, and he has something to say.
2011 09 012227 CityVille invaded by Empires & Allies Captain Krunsch, but why?
“I could run this town in my sleep,” the message from the miniature character reads as he lands on CityVille shores on a rowboat, megaphone in hand. “And I plan on sleeping in the governor’s mansion tonight!” Basically, Krunsch is after Governor Phil, a relatively minor character in the game, for whatever reason.
It was our understanding that RewardVille, Zynga’s program that rewards players with in-game items for playing more Zynga games daily, was to do away with the cross-game promotions of the developer’s past. But we can’t think of a better reason for this event than to promote Empires & Allies, which has been steadily losing monthly players since it peaked at over 53 million earlier this summer, according to AppData.

CityVille: Save up to 50% on tons of items in Labor Day sale

Share

Ok, so Zynga calls it the “End of Summer Blowout Sale,” but as today is Labor Day, that can’t be a coincidence. Either way, now’s your chance to save up to 50% off tons of items in the CityVille store, but only for a limited time (as in, until sometime tomorrow, depending on when Zynga decides to flip the switch to “off”).
Luckily, since there are so many items to choose from, Zynga has at least made it easy for us to browse through the entire lot, by simply clicking on the Specials icon in the store, and then clicking on the Sale tab to sort to those items that are, you guessed it, on sale. There are plenty of things to choose from, ranging from decorations and businesses to premium Zoning Permit and Energy bundles. Yes, that’s right – even coin items are a part of this sale, and at some pretty impressive sale prices too! For instance, the Camera Shop is a full 50% off, now costing just 9,900 coins.
cityville on facebook CityVille: Save up to 50% on tons of items in Labor Day sale

In terms of more expensive items, they tend to have smaller discounts (15-20% off), but with such high prices to begin with, that still results in a fairly large chunk of coin savings. As a couple of examples, the Beachfront Condos are 20% off, now costing 400,000 coins which is a savings of 100,000 coins. Another example is the Atrium Lofts home, which used to cost 750,000 coins, but now costs 600,000 during the sale.
cityville sale CityVille: Save up to 50% on tons of items in Labor Day sale
All in all, there are way too many items here to list, but that just gives you all the more reason to check out this massive sale before it’s too late. There’s bound to be something here for every budget, for every player, so don’t miss out!

CityVille Expansion packs give you Zoning Permits with bonuses

Share

If you’re tired of simply collecting Zoning Permits from your friends in CityVille, and even the idea of purchasing bundles of Zoning Permits has become boring to you, then why not take a look at two new “Expansion Packs” that have been added to the game? These packs are limited-time-only objects, although we unfortunately don’t have an exact time limit for their departure (typical). What we can tell you though, is that you’ll gain plenty of Zoning Permits in each bundle, along with some “free” goodies.
Here’s a complete look at both (warning: expensive prices ahead!):
Expansion Pack 1 – Costs: 150 City Cash
40 Zoning Permits
One Founder’s Residence (300-650 population)
One Pastel Houses (700-1,000 population)
Expansion Pack 2 – Costs: 65 City Cash
20 Zoning Permits
One Celebrity House (600-850 population)
loaderpermitbundlepng CityVille Expansion packs give you Zoning Permits with bonuses
As you can see, the bonuses here aren’t just “free” citizen boosts (keep in mind you are paying a premium for these packs, so these bonuses aren’t exactly free), but they also contain limited edition items that were thought to be gone from the game forever. As one example, the Celebrity House was available in early July and then retired, while the Founder’s Residence (or Founder’s Building, as it is sometimes referred to) was available even earlier in June. Does that make these bundles worth a purchase? That will ultimately be up to you.

Think about it this way – what are these extra houses worth to you? Since you can ultimately collect all of those Zoning Permits for free from friends, these bonuses are all your City Cash investment goes towards anyway. If they’re worth 150 and 65 City Cash, respectively, then go for it; just make sure you’re comfortable spending that much money on some otherwise free items before you pull the proverbial trigger.
